The seventeen year old Ravenclaw boy was sitting up in bed with a sheet pulled over his head. Underneath the protection of the blanket he dimly had his wand; 'Lumos' being the spell to provide him light whilst the rest of the room was dark and the only sound being the other guys sleeping. He held his wand over the crinkled pages of his book he had gotten at the library that morning. It was something about different potions and charms, just a collection of spells for people to use if they wanted practice. Not to brag, but Damien was a whiz with his wand. While others shined in quidditch (Damien isn't the best at the game himself), he tended to stick with the traditional things.
His wand light faded, camoflauging him with the dark. He uncovered his head as his light blue eyes scanned the room for a sign of anyone else being awake. He turned to his side and swung his legs over the side of his four poster bed. His feet silently touched the floor and he got up from the mattress. As he did so, it made a light creaking sound and a gasp escaped him. He wasn't exactly sure why he cared if anyone else awoke from his inability to be quiet, but it bothered him for some reason. After a few moments of no one making any sudden movements, he glided over to the door and turned the knob, allowing himself the freedom of leaving the dormitory.
It wasn't until he was safely out in the corridors that he finally began to breath through his mouth, not his nose. Why was he so paranoid? He walked down the endless halls with the flickering torches being his light source of the evening. You'd think that with a school this old they would be able to install actual muggle lights. It wouldn't be the same though, the torches added a bit of the traditional medieval feel to the place.
Damien came across a door that for the first time he had never noticed before and the knob seemed a bit dusty, like no one had opened it in ages. He shrugged and turned it, hoping nothing with sharp teeth was inside. He lit his wand and held it out in front of him just to be on the safe side and began his exploration of the room in question. Erin's olive green eyes stared up at the celling, able to feel it's coldness closing in on her. Her bed was comfortable, but a bit too comfortable. She wasn't used to such a padded bed and it bothered her of how unfamiliar the room, the bed, the people where...
She slipped on a sweat shirt and tied up her dirty blond hair into a low, tight pony tail. She pulled on an old pair of faded jeans, their waist loose around hers. Slowly she took her wand out of her trunk and slid it into her left front pocket. Hoping no one would hear her, she tiptoed out, not letting her heals touch the cold ground.
The Fat Lady scowled at her as she carelessly walked out of the portrait hole. She appologised, leaving her with a weak smile. Going outside didn't seem like the best idea for her first night at a new school so she began walking around the corridors.
Her eyes followed a lit slit under a dusty door. She placed her hand on the cold door noob and twisted it gently. Erin placed her hand on the outside of her jeans where her wand was, ready to hex what ever might hurt her inside...

Damien walked over towards a window on the west wall of the room. It was cracked open to where a light breeze blew through the room. He tried his best to shut it, pushing his whole weight against the thing but it didn't barge. He doubted anything was going to crawl through it, but you never knew what could happen at a place like Hogwarts. The longer he stayed in this room, the more relaxed he became and he put his wand back into his jean pocket and ran his hand along the windowsill. When he brought his hand up to his face he discovered dust all over his fingers. Disgusting.
He no longer cared about the cleanliness of the room when he heard someone walk in through the door. He turned on his heel and quickly reached his hand back into his pocket to pull out his wand. Worse case scenario was that it was a some terrifying beast or a prefect ready to send him on his way. Damien wasn't the best at thinking on the bright side and immediately went to thinking about the worst.
He held his wand to the girl's face rather forcefully and whispered "Lumos" under his breath. When it lit up he saw a blonde haired girl who looked harmless enough. "Oh sorry." He muttered while he lowered his wand and apologetically smiled. His wand was put back into his pocket before he returned to looking at the person before him.

Erin shielded her eyes when someones wand lit in her face. After it was out, she lowered her arm. "It's...okay." She squinted in the dark a bit, not being able to see very well anymore, small dots of white light played across her vission.
She moved her hand away from her wand, he didn't seem to harmfull. "I'm Erin..." She said softly, not to loud, afraid someone passing in the corridor might here and get her and even him into a lot of trouble.
A sneeze slid up her throat, she turned quickly and let out a small squeak. Dust always did this to her, tickled her nose and such. She found this out when she had to spend time at her Grandmothers house doing nothing, but cleaning while she was away doing something she never disscused with Erin.
She wipped away a tear that had escaped her eye and rubbed her nose a bit, waiting for the boy to reply.

Even though most people at this school were loud and outgoing, Damien was one of the few who tended to stand alone. Not many people knew his true side or that he wasn't a mute. When he did speak however, his tone was soothing and soft instead of gravelly and low. Admittingly, he wasn't the best at starting conversations and would generally avoid them regularly. He had planned to just walk away from the girl and leave her be, until she introduced herself.
The only light in the room was coming from the moonlight that shone through the window, so he could vaguely make out her features in detail. "Damien Rhean." He responded and held out his hand for her to shake as a sign of formal greeting. He hated his name and was known to even make one up when introducing himself, but he was way too tired to come up with a name this late at night.
He heard her faint sneeze and smiled. He was surprised his allergies weren't acting up with all the dust covered furniture in the room. He usually began to cough and sneeze at even the slightest bit of salt or dust. Boy were his reactions weird.

Erin shook his hand, not too firmly but not too lose. "I...like your name..." She said softly, realizing a couple of seconds later how odd that had sounded. This was the most she had said to anyone at this school so far, even though this was the only student she had talked to. Mostly when people first talked to her, she nodded or shrugged, not giving them more than a couple of words...
"Are you new?" She asked lightly, trying to be nice and make a small conversation, not really knowing if she wanted a friend or an aquaintance...

Damien looked a little puzzled at her first comment. Not many people came right out and said things like that, so one point for her for being straight up and honest. He smiled to acknowledge the compliment, but still looked a little confused. When he hated his name so much, he found it kind of weird that someone else actually liked it. "Thanks." He said. "I -- er -- like your name too." Okay, so he wasn't the best at the whole compliment ordeal.
She seemed quiet, much like him. He wasn't softspoken, but he just didn't like to talk a lot, not unless it was a conversation with someone he knew really well. She on the other hand seemed softspoken and shy. Or maybe it was the fact that they were in an abandoned classroom because they snuck out in the middle of the night. Yeah, might not want to be loud right now.
"I guess you could say that. I've been here for about a year." Did he seem new? Probably. Well with the absence of a British accent, it was pretty obvious to tell he wasn't from around here. He had never seen this girl before, or at least not that he could recall. "What about you?" He asked. It wouldn't be surprising if he had just never seen her before, since he certainly hadn't met everyone yet.

She laughed a little and scrunched her nose, "Thanks, but I think my name's a bit too boyish...but unique too..." She smiled slightly. Erin giggled at his confused face then quickly silenced herself, in fear of being caught.
"This is my first year at Hogwarts, but I went to another school before that for a while...My Grandma wanted me to go here instead for some reason though....It's okay so far..." She shrugged.

Damien laughed a little at her scrunched up nose. Somehow it reminded him of his sister when she was younger. Whenever she was confused or thinking, her nose would scrunch up the exact same way and Damien would always burst out laughing, usually ending up with him getting into trouble for making fun of his sibling, which he didn't think was fair considering he couldn't help what he thought was funny..
"Boyish? Nah, it's perfect for a girl. It makes people think you've got some edge." He smiled in assurance. "And if people think it's boyish then they can just look at you and tell you're 100% girl." That sounded strange, but hey, it was coming from Damien Rhean.
That sounded a little like his story, except his parents forced him by all means to go to Hogwarts. He would've preferred the wizarding school in New York far better, instead of here where everyone called him a fob. "My parents made me go here because it's where they went to school. I used to go to a school in Ontario, but that didn't last too long." He explained.

Erin raised an eyebrow, "You laughing at me?" She laughed a bit too. "Hmm...I guess you're right." She said looking down at herself then back up at him smiling. Erin tilted her head to the right slightly out of habit, mostly when she was studying someone or curious.
"What year are you? It seems like an odd time to make someone change schools so late." She said, guessing he was about the same age as her or maybe older.

All the talk about his old school made Damien feel a little sad. Not for the school itself, God no; that place was awful, but for the few friends he had. He had lost touch with them ages ago with no hope of regaining their friendship. So what was to happen after he left Hogwarts? Was he just going to forget everyone here, all the friends he had made. This was the thing that bugged him so much about being in his last year.
From what Damien could tell, which wasn't very much considering first impressions weren't really his thing, the girl still seemed a bit shy, or unsure of herself. Well if she was anything like him, he had to get to know someone before he really started a conversation. And heck, she had started this one. What was his point again..?
"Seventh" He answered. "Yeah, it's a little strange, but my dad got a new job out here in London so we had to move. I'm not used to the whole scene yet." True enough, he still wasn't used to hanging out with people who seemed so proper.

She nodded, "I guess parents always have the upper hand and can do what ever they please...Moving us around with out even thinking about our thought or feelings about the whole situation..." Erin's voice had become louder and she decided to stop speaking, afraid that she'd end up talking even louder.
Erin tried studying his face, she was pretty good at this. She was always able to read her grandmothers face. Erin knew exactally when to stay away from her by the way the woman walked. Her left side always dragged when she was angry. Unfortunatly, Erin wasn't able to read Damien, someone she had just met was harder to read.

Damien definately agreed with that. He had tried so hard to beg his parents up until the last day of packing. They just wouldn't give in. He tried everything, from being the perfect son who made them breakfast in bed to cleaning things up without being told. It was all effortless. But here he was, in a school he didn't even want to be in.
"Yeah, that's why I can't wait until I graduate from here. They can't control me anymore." He said with a smile. He had all these plans for moving out and moving on, though he wasn't sure if any of them would actually come true.

"I think I'm a bit afraid to graduate though..." Her voice trailed off and she slowly walked over to a wall, sliding down the cold stone and sitting on the chilly ground. A shivver ran up her spine. "I'm not sure how well I'l be able to take care of myself and if I make friends here, it just seems like it would be impossible to keep up with them after school ends..." Erin had always feared this, losing people. She had already had too many losses for a lifetime and she couldn't bare any more.
"Sorry, didn't mean to make the conversation all dreary and such..." She smiled at him weakly.

Damien watched her walk over to the wall and sat down on top of a desk nearby. He swung his legs back and forth, each time gently hitting the leg of the desk and it made a light ping sound. He didn't notice the sound until the fifth or sixth time and stopped himself. It probably wasn't smart to be making noises right now.
He nodded in agreement. "Most of my friends here are younger than me, so it'll be hard to keep in touch. Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna try, but I'm not sure how good that'll work." He laid his hands down onto his thighs and rubbed them. He was a little confused now. Did he really want to leave this place? It was practically the only place he had ever been to that accepted him so easily.
"Nah, don't worry about it. I hate when people are too cheery all the time." He responded. It was true. People with smiles on their faces constantly and always thinking of the good made him really annoyed. It was good to be happy, but not all the time.
