Erin glared at her clock, 5:27 a.m. She scowled and lazly dragged herself out of the lumpy bed her Grandmother had let her sleep on. Too good to buy her a new bed, the old woman gave her this old, lumpy bead, springs poking up at her sides if she ever sturred in her sleep.
"Get up now!!" The shouting rang in her ears still, five minutes after the wrinkled woman had stomped into her room, her body weight shaking the whole house, her Grandmothers wrinkles shiftying with every movement.
A small bowl of otmeal layed before Erin. She had never liked the lumpy cereal, but that was the only thing her Grandmother would make for her. Forcing herself to gobble down the cereal, she scooped the rest out, flinging it out the window like she had done for the past three years.
"Hurry! You'll be late for that rubbish school..." Erin heard the shouting coming from the next room. I hope this place is better than here...any place has to be better than here...
